The Waldron Center Playground is getting closer to completion.

Logan Foster is a home schooled senior enrolled in the Business, Management, Marketing & Technology program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Logan is employed through the On-The-Job Training program at the City of Coldwater as a Marketing Intern. His supervisor is Abbey Hoffman. His job duties include managing social media, creating SM graphics, event promotion and advertisement, and writing press releases. Logan feels his OJT placement has given him more knowledge about business and marketing along with showing him what it is like to work in a real world business. Logan feels the best parts of his OJT training are the people he works with, earning money, and having fun while working hard. Logan is a two-year member of Business Professionals of America (BPA) at the BACC. Last year, Logan competed at the BPA Regional and State Levels in Digital Media Production. This year, he competed again at the BPA Regional and State Leadership Conferences. In the Young Moguls event, Logan created a successful business called “Videos Made Perfect”. His plan after graduation is to pursue a career in entertainment. In his spare time, Logan enjoys gaming, playing volleyball and ping pong, video editing, video creation, playing guitar and making music. Logan is the son of Joan Foster and Drew Foster.

United Way, Power of the Purse, honored 10 influential women this year, celebrating 10 years of Power of the Purse. Amy Galliers, Great Start Collaborative Director, was one of those honored women. Branch ISD staff there to support her were Jan Storrs, Kris Jenkins and Laura Flores. Congratulations Amy!

Lily Davis is a senior and attends the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Lily has an On-the-Job Training placement with Family Farm and Home under the direction of Will Swan. She works as a Stocker and Cashier. Lily is responsible for stocking feeds, helping customers locate products, cashing out the customer, and loading customer orders. Lily is the daughter of Justin Davis and Tiffany Davis.
Lily is a member of the Branch Area Careers Center FFA Chapter. She has received her FFA Greenhand, Chapter and State degrees, and additionally participated in the Environmental Skills contest. Lily’s hobbies include being outside and spending time with her dog. After graduation, Lily plans to work full time at Family Farm and Home and eventually work her way into management. OJT has taught her strategies to help people including patience and communication. Her favorite part of OJT is helping customers find what they need. She looks forward to work every day because of her wonderful co-workers and regular customers.

The Branch Area Careers Center recently inducted Josie Mescher, a Quincy High School senior to the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). Mescher is a member of the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources program at the BACC, as well as an FFA member. The NTHS is a non-profit, educational organization, founded in 1984 to reward excellence in technical and career education. Only those students who are recommended by the faculty and exhibit the qualities of skilled workmanship, honesty, responsibility, leadership, citizenship, and scholastic achievement are selected for membership. Students are required to have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA at their home school, as well as being in good standing with their school. Also, students are required to have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA at the BACC, as well as being a member of a Career and Technical Student Organization. Josie was nominated by her BACC teacher.

Gracie West is a senior at Quincy High School and enrolled in Culinary Arts Program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Her OJT placement is at Bob Evans of Coldwater as a Server and Host under the supervision of Jacob Livings.
Gracie believes her OJT training has taught her how to interact with people and has improved her time management skills. Her favorite part about the position is working with the customers. Gracie looks forward to seeing her regular customers and getting to know them. She is responsible for seating, serving and taking care of customers, which includes allowing them to enjoy their time at the restaurant. She also cashes customers out and helps with online and mobile orders. Gracie is Servsafe and Allergens certified.
Her future plans are to continue working full time and purchasing her own home. In her spare time, Gracie enjoys spending time with friends and being outside. Gracie is the daughter of Jennifer McCuiston and Mark West.
