Branch ISD -

Olivia Searls is a senior at Coldwater High School (CHS). She is also enrolled in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources program at the Branch Area Careers Center (BACC). For her On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement, she works as an Agricultural Legislative Assistant for the office of Representative Jennifer Wortz, under the direction of Representative Wortz. Her job duties include conducting research in support of legislation related to agricultural and rural policies, drafting policy summaries, attending committee hearings, and helping prepare briefing materials.

At the BACC, Olivia is the vice president of the BACC FFA chapter. She also serves as the Michigan Region One FFA president.

At CHS, Olivia is a member of Student Council, Interact, National Honor Society, Band, Varsity Cheer, and Varsity Track.

Olivia is also a member of Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary.

Representative Wortz says, “Olivia has done a great job learning the ins and outs of state politics. I really appreciate her attention to detail, timeliness, and organizational skills. She has been a productive part of helping my office run smoothly. My staff and I feel fortunate to have Olivia as an intern in my office.”
