Shane Zimmerman is a senior at Coldwater High School and is also enrolled in the Welding Program at the Branch Area Careers Center (BACC). His On-the-Job Training (OJT) placement is at VIP Welding and Fabrication in Coldwater under the direction of Michael Earhart. At VIP, Shane helps with a variety of welding, fabrication, and repair projects.
Shane’s favorite part of his OJT job is putting the skills he learned at the BACC to use in the real world.
At the BACC, Shane earned his OSHA 10 certification. He also participated in the SkillsUSA competition, where he earned awards in stick, MIG, and TIG welding. He was recognized for his help in the construction of the metal tree artwork currently displayed at the Four Corners in Coldwater.
After graduation, Shane intends to enroll at the Western Welding Academy and earn American Welding Society (AWS) certifications.
Michael says, “Shane has been a valuable addition to our team here at VIP. He’s always willing to help, whether it’s a simple project or an emergency repair. With his attitude and confidence, I’m positive Shane will succeed after high school.”
Shane is the son of Charles (Rusty) and Kim Zimmerman.
