Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement I
Introduction to Criminal Justice analyzes the processes, institutions and administration of justice in the United States.  Students will learn the basics on how the laws are made (Legislative process, precedent, Constitutional Amendments); how the laws are enforced (police work, CSI, SWAT, Narcotics enforcement, FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security); and what we do with people after the laws are enforced (Judicial Process, arrest, Correctional process, diversion, parole, probation, juvenile justice and others.) probation and parole, and introduces the student to the juvenile justice process.  Special attention to contemporary issues and trends in the administration of justice and the Michigan justice structure will be emphasized.  Note:  Entry into this program is by application ONLY!  Please provide a copy of your transcript and your Educational Development Plan (E.D.P.). Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement II
This course is offered to those students who successfully complete Criminal Justice I.  Students in Criminal Justice II are exposed to work-experience and job shadowing experiences and have the opportunity to participate in On-the-Job Training (OJT) at local correctional facilities and police departments.  Students will be exposed to inmates, inmate processing, inmate security, and personal protection.  Those who study Law Enforcement will also be exposed to patrol tactics, correctional processes, court systems and dispatching methods which will reinforce skills learned in the first year classes.  Personal protection, traffic control, crime prevention and investigation are part of the job shadowing and work experience portion of Criminal Justice II.
